I'm making a website. I had tried to learn html and CSS before but Isometimes struggle to follow through. I think I would like to use this kind of instead of tumblr. Can organize things better here and shift the focus.
I want to get an SD card adapter for my PC so I can upload my experiments with digital photography. My grandmother gave me her old Nikon D50. I am really struggling to understand how photography works and what all the technical words mean. I can't figure out how to phrase my questions so the internet will answer them anymore. I feel like now I have to try to guess how a layman or an old person might phrase it rather than just the key words I want. I don't feel like i really need any info on the artistry behind photography at this point, like I havent gone to school for it or anythign but I like to think i understand the basic concepts of like lighting and composition.. I'm mainly concerned with like... what is an aperture... what's its effect on the photo... how does zooming and focusing actually work...Like I wish i could find someone who knows how to do it and we can go take photos for like probably 10-20 minutes and I'll be able to learn all the base knowledge I need to complete my research on my own. I hate when I can't find the "opening" in the "dense wall of vegetation" that is learning a new skill.
I feel bad not asking Nannie since she loved photography but it's been so long I'm not sure if she would remember the specifics I'm wondering about. I have no doubt she could show me how to take a beautiful photo but I don't think she could explain the mechanics in the way I am wanting/needing to get a strong understanding of photography.
I am interested in photography in general lately though. Of course I take lots of pictures with my phone. I'll probably upload some of them here although I strongly dislike the experience of going through my iphone photos as it is not only a tool/utility for me wrt screenshots and seeing in tight spots my head can't fit into, magnifying things,etc but also my phone is a toy and I save a lot of silly images too. So it's really just too crowded and it's hard for me to parse all that info and remember it all and hold it all in my head from such a small screen. Maybe uploading them to my PC would allow me to organize them more easily.
I also have been taking more pictures and videos of clouds and the sky lately. I am really fascinated by the weather. I also have been recording some of my drives similar to dashcam footage using my phone. I can get a really good shot of the sky that way and I also frequently see scenes I wish I could photograph while I'm driving. I am broke so I can't just get a legit dashcam. Someday I want a dashcam and I also want a high quality telescope and camera for birdwatching which is another one of my hobbies.
According to Audubon app I have logged 63 species and according to Merlin I have logged 32 species. In total I have logged 73 birds not inlucding ones I've logged more than once. I enjoy songbirds, waterfowl, and birds of prey, and I love to watch turkeys, grouse, and chickens, as well as plovers and killdeer. I am also particularly fond of the Barred Owl, the Great Blue Heron, the Chickadee, the Robin, the Red-Tailed Hawk and lookalikes, catbirds, Phoebes and other flycatchers. Basically all birds. I took a trip to Florida a couple years ago and got to see some great birds not found in Northern New England such as the pelican and the anhinga. I also was tickled by the ibises or whatever they were just hanging about at Bush Gardens. I did not like Bush Gardens besides the animals. Or Florida in general.

Ok I made a new page for it. Took me a minute to figure out how to link it. The filename in the dashboard and in the code needs to be name.html as opposed to just name or else it just like downloads the page to my computer. I have like 6 copies of this page downloaded now. Another thing that's interesting is I copied the intro to this page so i can double check im doing it correctly more easily. And it seems that i dont need to be putting all these ps and elbows and slahes. but probably good practice to do so anyway.
